Jazz vocalist Nnenna Freelon performs on February 20

Award-winning jazz vocalist, Nnenna Freelon, returns to Hartford to celebrate her new recording LIVE. The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts welcomes Nnenna Freelon on Friday, February 20, 2004 at 7:30 p.m. This performance, held in the Belding Theater, is presented as part of the Accenture Jazz Series. Tickets can be purchased by visiting The Bushnell Box Office at 166 Capitol Avenue in Hartford or calling at (860) 987-5900. Tickets are also available online at www.bushnell.org. Ticket prices range from $25.00 to $55.00.

About Nnenna Freelon With passionate vocalese, textured arrangements, and brilliant energy, Nnenna Freelon's live performances have always been her passion. Freelon earned a rousing standing ovation from the audience of 20,000 for her stunning performance of "Straighten Up and Fly Right" with Take 6 at the 43rd Annual Grammy Awards telecast. Command performances quickly followed-honoring the legendary Julie Andrews, the Carnegie Hall Tribute to Stephen Sondheim, Variety-The Children's Charity, as well as the Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon.

Freelon continues her rise to stardom following her feature film debut in What Women Want starring Mel Gibson, and her second soundtrack appearance in The Visit starring Billie Dee Williams.

Currently Nnenna can be heard on Billboard number one Gospel album: Church: Songs of Soul and Inspiration. This latest endeavor highlights Nnenna and other artists including Patti LaBelle, Chaka Khan, and Jennifer Holiday.
