HARTFORD, Conn., April 5, 2002 - Mark your calendar for an enchanted evening as The Bushnell celebrates the arts in Connecticut and raises money for its award-winning educational programs.

This year's gala fundraiser, Ovations 2002, will feature a cocktail reception, dinner, a silent auction and a performance by Carol Burnett, one of the country's most loved and respected performers. The entire event will take place June 1 at the newly expanded Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts.

Tickets to Ovations 2002 are available until May 10 by calling Kelly Richardson at (860) 987-6051.

A six-time Emmy Award winner, Burnett has demonstrated versatility since ending the 11-year run of the "Carol Burnett Show." She is now as widely recognized for her dramatic abilities as she is for her comedic and musical talents. Americans fondly consider her a true living legend in entertainment, having bestowed more People's Choice Awards upon her than any other woman in the award show's history. Her June 1 performance, Laughter and Reflection: A Conversation with Carol Where the Audience Asks the Questions is a rare opportunity to talk to Carol in an enjoyable and intimate audience-interactive format.

This year's silent auction will include a vacation to Napa Valley for a wine tasting at Mondavi Vineyards, a trip to Seattle to tour Dale Chihuly's private glassblowing studio, walk-on roles in an upcoming Bushnell production, and a private party for 40 people in The Bushnell's new suite.

Proceeds from the event will support The Bushnell's educational programs, including PARTNERS, the nationally recognized arts-in-education program. Last year's auction and gala dinner at The Bushnell raised more than $100,000 for The Bushnell's educational programs.
