Silly Saturday Means Serious Fun for Families at The Bushnell

Bring the whole family down to The Bushnell’s Family Fun Day for a day full of fun and creativity!

Hartford, CT – March 30, 2009 – Come rock out with The Jimmies, the coolest children’s music group around, at The Bushnell’s Family Fun Day 2009 – “Silly Saturday…Serious Fun!” – on Saturday, April 25, 2009 in Belding Theater.  Family Fun Day activities will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and The Jimmies will perform at 11:00 a.m. for approximately 50 minutes without intermission.  Family Fun Day is a part of the Robinson & Cole Family Series.

Family Fun Day activities are FREE and open to the public. However, entrance to The Jimmies concert in the Belding Theater requires a ticket.  Tickets for The Jimmies are on sale now and can be purchased by visiting The Bushnell Box Office at 166 Capitol Avenue in Hartford or by calling (860) 987-5900.  Tickets may also be purchased online at www.bushnell.org.  All tickets to the performance are $15.00 or, for $25.00, premium orchestra seating is available complete with a post-show “Make Your Own Sundae” meet and greet with the band! 

Free Family Fun Day activities include a silly rock and roll dance jam with DJ James Shanahan in Autorino Great Hall, fun balloon creations from the Lazagna Family Clowns, face painting, a silly button making station, the Hartford Symphony Orchestra’s “instrument petting zoo” and instrument making, fun with movement and dance with Susan Murphy of the Hartford Conservatory of Music and Dance, and a special appearance by Sonar, the Hartford Wolf Pack mascot.  

Then head into the Belding Theater for some musical fun with The Jimmies!  This band, founded by lead singer Ashley, is a number one pick for kids and parents alike with a repertoire of silly songs that appeal to children without being babyish.  A Parents' Choice award and Oppenheim Toy Portfolio winner, The NYC-based band The Jimmies play "real music for real kids" and will gleefully rock, swing & dance their way into your world through terribly catchy & hilarious songs for people of all ages. Their new album "Make Your own Someday" was included on over a dozen "Best Kids Album of the Year" lists and their single "What's That Sound?" just hit #1 on the XMKids Radioplay Charts.
